Awana is a nondenominational ministry that assists churches in reaching children and teenagers with the gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve Him. Awana offers a series of clubs and programs geared to the needs of a particular age or grade. As a vital part of our local church ministry, Awana clubs and programs effectively reach young people with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Community Bible Study

Community Meals Program
A community program that serves Sunday evening meals to those in need, as well as, meals at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.   Local restaurants generously provide the food, and donations of money are appreciated from the public.

Freedom Builders
Freedom Builders strives to work with all Christian churches in the northern Michigan region to demonstrate the love of Christ to the least of these.  Our typical clients are one very small step away from being homeless or in some situations are currently displaced from their home because the housing conditions have become so deplorable that it is unsafe to live there any longer.  In the 10 years the organization has served the Grand Traverse Region, we have completed projects ranging from pouring a foundation to replacing a roof, and everything in between. Our mission is to reach out to those in need jointly with the family of God and share the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Friendship Group  
The Friendship Group is a program for developmentally disabled adults that provide unique worship experiences.  The group meets at Fellowship Church, 2555 Garfield Road N, Traverse City, MI, on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, September through May.

Gideons International
Gideon’s International is an Association of Christian business and professional men and their wives dedicated to telling people about Jesus through sharing personally and by providing Bibles and New Testaments.  While we are known worldwide for our work with hotels, we predominantly share Scriptures in schools and colleges, prisons and jails, hospitals, and medical offices.

Gifts For Kids
Gifts for Kids opens the way for the community to provide Christmas gifts for children of the incarcerated.  Families who participate int his program are inivited to an evening of food, fun and fellowship.  This program is offered in all of the local surrounding county jails.

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.  GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. Habitat for Humanity – Grand Traverse Region   
We are a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that welcomes all people who seek to end substandard housing. We build affordable housing for low-income home buyers.   We use donations of labor, materials and money to build new homes or rehabilitate existing homes in partnership with families in need. Habitat sells the completed home to a home buyer at a zero-interest mortgage rate.

His House Christian Fellowship   (Northwestern Michigan College campus)
His House Christian Fellowship is a statewide campus ministry organization that has served college-age people since 1969.  We are on 12 campuses statewide including NMC in Traverse City.  Our ministry can be summarized in three words:  Belong, Serve, and Grow.  We meet every Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. to study the Bible, worship, and hang out with each other.  All college-age people from the greater Grand Traverse Area are welcome to participate.

Keys to Freedom 
Our primary purpose is evangelism and discipleship among inmates in Grand Traverse, Benzie, and Leelanau County Jails.  This, we believe, is best accomplished by the placement of a trained and dedicated chaplain within the jail.

Lake Ann Camp
Lake Ann Camp specializes in age-specific programs.  Summer Camp is divided into 6 groups, from 4th graders to high school graduates.  This allows for the development needs of every individual.  They also offer year-round retreats for groups of all ages and they also host groups of all shapes and sizes who wish to use the facilities for their own retreats.

Life Chain
Life Chain is held the first Sunday afternoon of October for one hour. Its purpose is to pray for life and against abortion in a visible way.  Participants stand quietly along designated highways praying and holding signs that are provided by the local coordinator.

Project Unity for Life
Project Unity for Life is a non-profit, non-denominational, faith-based ministry dedicated to the reentry and reintegration of the formerly incarcerated into community life.   Education, mentoring, individual coaching, small group meetings, community networking, and specific, individualized reintegration plans are used.   Thanks to the community’s generosity and support, a transitional house (Unity House) is now available for men while they make the transition to community life from incarceration.  Volunteers to aid in the ministry are always welcome!
